Hyundai Kona vs Honda HR-V

  • The base trim level of the Hyundai Konda provides a lot of available conveniences for a low price, giving you more flexibility when upgrading and adding on more features if you choose. The Honda HR-V does not offer as many standard features yet begins at a starting price more than $500 more than the Kona.
  • Such convenient features, which are standard on most trims of the Kona and available on the base, are an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a compass and HomeLink®, a cargo area cover, and a roof rack. While some of these features are available on the Honda HR-V, they must be added on with an additional fee.
  • Through the Hyundai brand, the Kona comes backed by more ample warranty coverage including a 60-month/60,000-mile (whichever occurs first) basic warranty and 120 months/100,000 miles of powertrain coverage. The Honda HR-V comes backed by a 36-month/36,000-mile basic warranty along with a 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
  • The Hyundai Kona generates much more horsepower through its engine and its six-speed automatic transmission provides a smoother and less clunky acceleration than the continuously variable transmission of the Honda HR-V.

Hyundai Kona vs Mazda CX-3

  • While both of these SUVs are listed as compact crossovers and seat five passengers, the Mazda CX-3 ultimately has much less space to offer with a passenger volume of 88 cubic feet and a cargo capacity of 12 cubic feet, whereas, the Hyundai Kona has a more flexible 94 cubic feet of passenger value and 19 cubic feet of cargo space, even without the rear seatbacks folded in.
  • The starting price of the Hyundai Kona is about $400 less than that of the Mazda CX-3, giving Tinley Park customers a bit more wiggle room for extra upgrades
  • For some extra convenience, especially in keeping things secret during holiday shopping, the Hyundai Kona comes standard with a cargo area cover for easy storage, which is a feature unavailable on the base trim of the Mazda CX-3.
  • As with Honda, the warranties provided through Mazda last about the same amount of time, with 36 months or 36,000 miles of basic coverage and 60 months/60,000 miles of powertrain coverage over the 60-month/60,000-mile basic warranty from Hyundai as well as the 120 months/100,000 miles of powertrain coverage.

Hyundai Kona vs Kia Niro

  • Joliet drivers might appreciate some of the extra conveniences that the Hyundai Kona features standard, such as speed sensitive volume control, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, and Forward Collison-Avoidance Assist. While most of these features have Kia equivalents, they are only available on the highest trim levels of the Kia Niro. Speed-sensitive volume control is wholly unavailable on the Niro.
  • In terms of warranty coverage, both of these crossovers come backed by some excellent corrosion perforation protection, but Hyundai protection covers the Kona for 84 months with no mileage restrictions whereas the Kia brand covers the Niro for 60 months or 100,000 miles.
  • The Hyundai Kona and available Kona Hybrid both offer 13.2-gallon fuel tank capacities over the 11.9-gallon capacity of the Kia Niro.
  • With all of this convenience, the Kona still offers a more flexible starting price for Tinley Park Drivers, whereas the starting price of the Kona is almost $4,000 more.
